European Federation of National Organisations Working with the Homeless (FEANTSA )

FEANTSA is an umbrella of NGOs participating in or contributing to the fight against homelessness in Europe. FEANTSA’s objective is to prevent and alleviate the poverty and social exclusion of people experiencing homelessness, by encouraging and facilitating the co-operation of all relevant actors fighting homelessness in Europe. FEANTSA currently has more than 100 members working across Europe, in almost all member states. Most of FEANTSA’s members are national or regional umbrella organisations of service providers.

Planned activities

FEANTSA is running a campaign called ‘Ending Homelessness’.

The message is that homelessness can, and should be ended. Ending homelessness is ambitious but FEANTSA believe that if the following objectives become part of integrated homelessness policies, it can be achieved

  • No one sleeping rough
  • No one living in emergency accommodation for longer than is an ‘emergency’
  • No one living in transitional accommodation longer than is required for successful move-on
  • No one leaving an institution without housing options
  • No young people becoming homeless as a result of the transition to independent living

Our members are organising events across Europe, facilitating debate and providing opportunities to share knowledge and experiences, including examples of ambitious commitments to tackling homelessness.

We will also co-operate with the Belgian presidency to organise a European Consensus Conference, which could provide abasis for policy progress at EU level on homelessness.
